At Home Freelancer

Here it is the last day of 2008. I am not sure how I feel about this. On one hand I am looking forward to the start of a brand new year, on the other hand I feel somehow like I have not reached any of my goals. I never generally make any new years resolutions because I find I don’t keep them anyway. There are things that I know I would like to accomplish during the new year, so I focus not so much on making it a resolution but a goal to be achieved.

So now with the last day of 2008 upon me, I am looking back to see what I have accomplished. At first look it may seem like I have not accomplished much, but if I look a little closer I find that maybe I have done some of the things I wanted to.

Some of the things I wanted to accomplish was to get myself walking better-maybe walking without two crutches or canes and just use one. Well that did not work, but maybe that is something that is out of my control and I need to just deal with it. The other thing I wanted to do was find a work from home position, something that would generate some kind of income. Well I am working on that one,  and although I am not getting rich, I am doing something toward income generation. I will need to get more focused on the items I try, so I have actually been learning that much this last year.

Yes, maybe at first it looks like I have not been doing much toward goal achievement, but then again maybe I really have been doing something. It is all in the attitude! I must think more positively for 2009. Have a Happy New Year everyone!

Since I have been off work I find I have a lot more time to do other things such as blogging and writing articles. I also read more. When I first started this blog one of the tips I received was that in order to write well one must read, read, read. I bring this up because in my reading yesterday I came across an article in which the author was feeling guilty about the demise of bookstores. It seems that with the economy worsening many people are turning to online suppliers such as Amazon who sell books for less than one can get in a bookstore. The author of the article goes on to explain how he recently went online to purchase a book for $0.25. He was feeling guilty because he would have paid much more in a bookstore for this same book.

I must state here that I do love to read, but throughout the years I have started to bargain hunt for books myself. Most of the time I feel that books are over priced in bookstores. That is just my opinion. What I would like to know is whether or not we should feel guilty about bookstores closing. It would seem to me that if you want to remain in business than you will do whatever it takes to make that happen. I know it is expensive to run a store and to get the product in, but if you are overpricing yourself out of business should I feel guilty about that.

Perhaps publishers and other powers that be should have been watching more closely and come up with a plan to cut production costs of books so that the bookstores could have competed with online booksellers.

The economy is bad and people are doing whatever they can to keep going. If we need to bargain hunt for items than so be it. It is not my fault that prices in bookstores are higher than online suppliers. If I can get a deal online why not do it guilt free.

Today starts anew. A fresh approach to my old quest ( I hope). As the new year approaches I have been giving some thought as to what I will keep doing to generate income from home and what I will stop doing. I am still looking for new opportunities, I am just looking to streamline my efforts to make what I am doing more focused.

I will be giving up many of the ptc sites I have joined because the pay out is extremely low compared to the time spent working on them. I will be doing more blogging I believe and looking at ways to generate income using my blogging sites. I have joined mylot and although the pay is not great it is a great social network tool. I have also joined blogsoldiers-this is a site designed to bring actual readers to your blog. You view other blogs and they in turn send readers to your site. I will see how this goes. I also have an easyhits4u account, I use this to bring visitors to my blog sites. I may keep this one for awhile yet until I see how the blogsoldiers account does.

Because I like article writing, I will keep sending pieces to Associated Content. As I said earlier I like to get tips and I do take a serious look at those that I feel I can do. One commenter mentioned Triond as an alternative to Associated Content, and so I recently joined Triond. Now I now this seems like a lot to take on, but like I said, I enjoy writing and blogging. I can use one account to offset the other, in other words, what I do not get published on Associated Content I can send to Triond and vice-a-versa.

I will also spend time reading other blogs in an effort to see how they are written and what topics seem to be hot. Hopefully in this way I will be able to learn and grow and in time be generating some type of decent income while working from home. I know that I will never get rich doing this but I did not start this with that goal in mind. Whatever I make through article writing and blogging is something more than I started with in the first place. And so long as my mobility remains in question and I am unable to walk without walking aides, working from home is my best option for now.

On my quest to find the ultimate work from home opportunity I have found three sites today that may be promising for me. I have only taken a quick look at them as time is quickly ticking by and I have some other things to get done. One of the sites is a paid to click site but seems to offer more dollars for your time. The other two are blog sites that pay you for your reviews. Although these three seem like good sites I am not sure about the ptc site. I have joined several of these and the payment offered is very low and you would need to spent along time during the day pointing and clicking. With a higher payment for clicking though it may be OK. I am more inclined to take another look at the blogging sites myself. I like writing and somehow do not feel like I am wasting time if I am actually doing something other than pointing and clicking. Hello everyone, I had a couple of days of not writing. Did everyone have a great Christmas? I have been busy with family gatherings and have not had time to write anything until today. My Christmas was pretty good, I spent a lot of time with my grandson. He is such a little character, almost seems like he has a personalty developed already and he is less than 11/2 years old.

Well I‘ve been very busy the last couple of days, however I have not had much of a chance to look for work from home opportunities. Yesterday I had to go to Edmonton to the hip and knee clinic for a pre-op training. It looks like I may have a hip revision coming up in January. Today I went to the dermatologist to see about the rash that a few months ago she said was a reaction to something I had on my clothes and was getting on my skin. My skin was allergic to this something. Well I‘ve changed my laundry detergent and the soap I use to wash with and now the rash or blisters have come back. So the dermatologist today decided that it did not look like an allergic reaction after all but possibly skin ulcers. There was one spot which seemed to have something under the skin. Well she did a biopsy on that spot, she is not sure what it may be (could be a couple of things). Now it looks like I may not get results of biopsy back for 2 weeks, the result is that the hip revision may have to be put off for now. So this is what has been taking up much of my time. I am still looking for something I can do from home and am still looking for tips. The last couple of days however have been terrible for the search. Wish me luck with the biopsy, I hope it is nothing to serious. Have a great day! 

Most of my time this week has been spent on the computer either writing on this blog, my other blogs, or looking at work from home sites. I have also spent time reading different blogs on today.com and other sites as well. When I find something I believe is interesting I will add it to my blogroll. I have also been doing some article writing. For instance I submitted another rant to rantblogger.com. I just need to see if I can actually have something published there.

Yesterday and today have been busy days for me outside of the house so I have not had that much time to spend on this machine, I almost feel like I am about to go into computer withdrawal. I however did do some checking and have found the following positions for writers/bloggers:

I have also signed up for mylot. They pay for you to blog, discuss, or give your opinion about different topics. I could not find any place that told how much they pay but I assume from reading their site that they must pay depending on how popular your blog is or how much you blog, discuss, or give your opinion. If anyone has heard anything this site let me know. I figured I have got time to spend on the computer anyway I might as well try Mylot too. So that has been my week, I really do believe I am becoming addicted to this computer. I missed it the last couple of days.

Well first let me start with the good news–I have an article posted on Associated Content. Although I know this is a low paying site, it is quite a good thing for me (I hope). When I first started this blog I was not sure how this was really going to work for me. I have found some interesting sites through this blog and have gotten up the courage to actually submit articles to different content sites. So this is a good thing for me, I actually feel like I might be doing something constructive each day.

Now for the bad news. I mentioned previously that I had found a site that would let you rant about anything in your life and they would post it if it was good enough. They had sent back my rant to be reworked. Well I reworked it and resent it. I was informed today that they were not going to post my rant. Ooooh to bad. Oh well! I am not sure how to feel about this. I mean a rant is a rant, right. This may be a good game now for me–see if I can get something posted on rantblogger. I will keep you posted as to how this game works out.

I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who has commented on this blog. Some of the comments have given great tips. Keep on commenting and offering any tips you can think of they are greatly appreciated.

I have a question-has anyone tried or heard of wordlinx. I was on their site today and signed up. They are a pay to view site. You are paid one cent for each site you view. I had only 2 sites to view today. I guess to make money on sites like this you need to pay for one of their packages. So any way this is how my day has gone today. I signed up for zero2riches as well. So I will see how that goes. Wish me luck! Have a wonderful day!

Hello everyone. I am going to do a quick rundown of how things are doing on my hunt for the ultimate work from home position. Previously I had mentioned about giving Associated Content a try. So far I have submitted two articles to them. I guess now I wait and see what happens. I find I rather enjoy writing longer articles as opposed to these short blog posts.

I have also briefly checked out Constant Content. As I was reading through to see what this was all about my husband called and I had to close out to focus on what he was saying. I will need to go back and take another look when I have more time.

I have also written and gotten paid for two articles I wrote for Ducktape3 LLC Internet Marketing. So that was a good thing, although the pay was not much $4.00 per article. I guess it was better than nothing. They stated they would notify me when they needed more articles. Has anyone else ever dealt with this group?

Oh yes! One more site I checked out the other day called rantblogger.com. They state they will pay $5.00 for your rant and you can rant on anything. Well I ranted to try them out and today I got a response back from them. In a nutshell they said they liked my rant but then asked me to rework it and make it more emotional or humorous. I was not sure what to make of that. I mean when you rant about something do you try to make it funny, or just rant what you feel. Well anyway I reworked my rant and sent it back to them. So now I wait and see what happens there—-could take 2-3 days to review my rant.

Well this is how I have been spending some of my time as of late. Between writing and searching for sites that pay for writing I have practically no time left to waste on things like housework, laundry, and reading for pleasure. Oh well, have a great day!
