My Thoughts on the Political Unrest in Canada.

Published by carfor12 at 4:44 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

I took a break yesterday from my usual activities and spent part of the day helping to watch my grandson and the other part out shopping. When I got home it was late and my husband had the tv on and was quite confused and upset about the turn of events on our political front. I am not sure why the powers that be have decided that this is a good time for such political unrest and why we can not find a way to work together to help each other out of this economic malaise. I should think the government and the party leaders would have enough to do right now instead of creating such turmoil. In view of the economic situation would we not be better off to develop some way to bring this country together instead of all the infighting. While the world watches us we are slowly coming apart at the seams.

I am not very politically minded and am generally confused by how government reacts and responds to what the Canadian people are saying, but if I am not wrong did we not just elect the Conservatives into power. Is this not what Canadians said they wanted? Have we really given Steven Harper a chance, given the fact that he was just elected a few short weeks ago. Maybe we knew only that we did not want Dion in and so we went with whatever the next best choice was. (just thinking). Is the coalition sure that they will have the support of the majority of the Canadian people?

Here is something else that worries me, we are still dealing with Quebec wanting to separate. We went through this years ago with them. Most people that I know feel that if Quebec does not want to be a part of Canada then we should not force them to be a part. I am not sure that forcing them to remain a part of Canada is really helping this situation. They will exploit every opportunity given to separate from Canada. In light of this, would separation be such a bad thing?
