If you are looking for something that you can do to earn an income while staying at home, article writing may be something you would like to try. There are many places online that will pay you for articles that you write. I use Triond and Associated Content. These seem to work for me but I am always on the lookout for something new that I might like to try. I recently came across textbroker.com. I have not signed up for this yet…although one never knows when I might change my mind.
To write for any site requires time and lately that is something that I find I don’t have a lot of. I am looking at making changes however, so that I can start to write more articles throughout the week. To keep up with article writing and get paid a significant amount one must be prepared to write several articles on a weekly basis.
On that note let me tell you that I actually had time to write something and get it published on Associated Content. Go ahead and take a look.

I am still searching for something that I can do from home to generate income. Most of the searches I do end up with the same results-scams-sites asking me for money upfront to be given a list that may or may not result in securing paid employment from home. I gave up on the paid to click sites as well because they seem to be so much the same. I still visit easyhits4u occasionally and I am not sure but maybe if I spent more time there my stats would improve as well.
The reason I mention the paid to click sites is because today I found a site called trekpay.
I found it quite by accident while reading another today.com blog. I visited the site and it really seems quite easy to do and is different somehow. I signed up because the sign up is free and so now I will see if it is possible to make money online. My hope is that the payout here will be substantially more than what I am used to making on other paid to click sites that I have joined and then forgotten about because they don’t offer enough for me to waste my time pointing and clicking all day.
Wish me luck! Have a great weekend!

I read an article today about a 13 year old girl who was forced off a bus and then sexually assaulted. She had been riding the bus at around 2:30 am. First of all let me say that I am sorry to hear about this happening to a child. Secondly I need to ask-What was she doing out by herself riding a bus at that time of the morning? Where were her parents or an adult?
It is only my opinion, I believe that we as parents should be diligent at ensuring our child’s safety. Having them out by themselves at 2:30 am is alarming.
The third question I feel I need to ask-Why did she not get the bus drivers attention somehow? Maybe by screaming? I realize that the guy who forced her off the bus had a weapon (not stated what type in article), but maybe we as parents need to let our children know that it is ok to say something if they feel threatened by a stranger.
Child safety is an important issue. In my opinion parents need to be vigilant in ensuring that our children are safe, and in this case, not out alone in the middle of the night.

I have had a few busy days and weeks lately. I can’t seem to find time to write. I decided today that I need to start finding the time. I put blogging into my schedule and then something comes up that seems more important-like spending time with my two year old grandson. It seems lately that I have been spending more time with him and less time writing or blogging.
Well I believe that I am going to have to get tough with myself and make time for my writing, even if it means doing it during the evenings. It is not just time spent with my grandson that gets in the way. I have found myself doing more reading lately too. I find that I like to feel a book in my hands instead of reading things on the internet. I don’t really know why that is other than the book is tangible and the internet really is not.
I am also still trying to find time to do a career search. This is something else that never seems to even make it to my day-timer for scheduling. Maybe what I need is…a time management course.
I really need to start spending time at night before I go to bed scheduling the next day. I read that it is a good idea to do this for a week at a time. Maybe I will try this as well and see how it goes.
Happy reading!

I have been reading some very thought provocing stories lately about companies that are striking. I know the reason behind a strike is to force the company you work for to give you what you want, either in pay increases or some other form of benefit increases. What I don’t understand, with so many companies having to lay off workers or close down, we go on strike for more of anything.
My opinion is that there are far too many people currently out of work so why put yourself into that category if you have a stable job.
It seems that Via Rail Engineers don’t feel that way, or at least their union doesn’t. This is just my opinion after reading this article: http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/090724/national/via_talks
Now I know that there are probably issues afoot that are not in this article, I am just saying why risk your livelihood in these economic times.
I was also reading an article the other day in a magazine about garbage collectors being on strike in Toronto, Ontario. Does this seem a little scary to anyone else? Maybe I am reading too much into this stuff. I am sure that everything will work out as it should.
Have a great weekend! Happy reading!

I finally received a task from blogsvertise-and it has only been how many months-I have lost track. I had all but forgetten that I had signed up with blogsvertise. I declined the task after giving it much thought. The task was on technical equipment and I just could not convince myself that I could write anything about this site. I hope this will not mean I will never hear back from blogsvertise again.
As you have probably guessed I have not had much luck using blogsvertise. I am not sure if it is me or just the luck of the draw. Has anyone been using blogsvertise? Has it been working for you? Let me know. Now that I declined this first task I am starting to second guess myself. Maybe I should have accepted the task.

As I have been looking for work outside the home and updating my resume I am conscious of spelling mistakes and am always on the lookout for them. I also reread anything that I type or write up for spelling mistakes. It seems not everyone looking for work is that persistent.
I know that mistakes do happen, but when sending out a resume or cover-letter for a job we should be wanting to make the right impression. If we send out resumes and cover-letters with typing mistakes it may prompt employers to assume that there will be mistakes on the job as well. This is according to a survey carried out by Accountemps. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/reuters/090715/odds/odd_us_resumes_2
I am not sure that is the first impression one wants to make on a possible future employer. A good rule of thumb is to always check your resumes and cover-letters before sending them out. I find that if I can walk away from it for a few minutes and then proofread it I will catch any errors or even see sentences that really don’t make much sense. When I find the errors it is easy to fix them and then get the resumes and cover-letters ready to send out. I sometimes have someone else reread it for me just to make sure it looks and sounds ok.Good luck on your job search! Happy reading!

Well I have sent out two resumes, one online and one went straight to the employers and now I sit and wait for a response. While I am waiting I decided to keep looking for something I can do from home, or a telecommuting position.
In my search I found these two sites, flexjobs
http://www.flexjobs.com/?gclid=CLedy53G05sCFRFMagodCmKnJA for $14.95 they will find you a telecommuting job. http://www.tjobs.com/index.php?cat=93 Telecommuting jobs. For $15.00/year they will let you apply for jobs on their board. They offer no guarantees. I am not sure how I feel about paying to apply for a job I might not get, but I believe I will pass on this opportunity. When searching online for telecommuting or work from home jobs be careful, there are a lot of scams out there and there are places that don’t offer any guarantees of getting a job even if they are offering legitimate work you can do from home.
Happy telecommuting work search! Happy reading.

Today has been quite an unusual day for me. Part of the day was spent writing an article for AC and part of it was spent doing up a cover-letter to go with my resume which I will be faxing out later today for a receptionist position.
It has been so long since I have had to do up a cover-letter I almost forgot how to do it and had to look up information on writing cover-letters. My updated resume has been saved on the computer for a few days now in anticipation for the day when I would swallow my fear and actually have some place to send it. My fear is in not knowing how an employer is going to react to the fact that I use crutches to walk, but I am confident that I will be able to show that I can do the job even while using crutches. I would be a definite asset and have the necessary skills to accomplish the tasks involved.
Wish me luck. Have a great day! Happy reading!

In my last post I mentioned that I was going to see an employment councilor for assistance in getting back into the workforce. I have decided to start looking at more traditional ways of gaining an income.
So I went to my appointment yesterday and scheduled one for today. I came home and decided to try out some of the suggestions I have received. I went on the alis.ca website to start my employment search and found a job that I wanted to apply for. They asked for a resume to be sent online. No problem, I have sent resumes online before. Well today did not work well at all. I had so many hoops that I had to jump through I eventually lost my uploaded resume copy and need to start all over again. Why do companies not make applying online easy. For instance here is the email address for the job, send us your resume, and cover-letter. So tomorrow I will start my employment all over again and try to send a resume off.
